UK offshore wind farm, 1.5 GW
Initial designs were provided and genetic algorithm based software was used to optimise the designs, minimising the operational losses. A total of 27 different design philosophies were considered with the greatest improvement in the losses equating to a saving of £16.7m over the proposed 30 year plant lifetime.
This fee earning project was undertaken by Andrew Jenkins prior to founding Kinewell Energy. The software used during the project was benchmarked against traditional design methods in a publically available paper. The KLOC optimisation engine created by Kinewell Energy can not only better these results but can do so up to 310,000x faster, allowing more designs to be interrogated and greater savings achieved.
Kinewell Energy is the only provider able to offer services based on the revolutionary KLOC software.
